An Angel & the King of Pop

I was reading over a chapter in the memoir today, one which talks about being a misfit because I was the only girl in the fourth grade without Farrah Fawcett hair. About an hour later, they announced it! Oh, no… Learning of her death was shocking enough, but then Michael Jackson?
I remember standing in my girlfriend’s bedroom, looking at the Michael Jackson poster on her wall. I can’t recall if it was from his Off the Wall album or from Thriller– but he just looked SO cool. And of course, most of us didn’t get to see Thriller because they released it in theaters and we didn’t have one in our town anymore. You had to drive to the Big City for one of them fancy thee-aters. I guess ours went out of business because everyone was so poor. We just didn’t have money for tickets.
Anyway, wow… Both in one day. I just had to blog about it. Feels like part of my youth is gone too.
Rest in Peace.

Yup, Denise, I understand what you’re saying. I grew up with Farrah Fawcett and Michael Jackson. As a kid, I loved MJ’s albums Off the Wall and Thriller. RIP, Farrah and Michael.
